Surfacing tissue is used in the surface layers of fiber-reinforced plastic (FRP) products. Its special properties include uniform fiber distribution, a soft and flexible surface, low binder content, rapid resin penetration, and good formability or moldability. Surfacing tissue provides desirable weather resistance and helps increase the strength of FRP products.
The tissue is available with a basis weight of 30 g/m².
Applications:
- Internal lining of GRP and GRE pipes: Creates the initial liner layer on the inner wall of fiberglass pipes produced by filament winding.
- Corrosion barrier: Forms a resin-rich layer inside pipes to prevent chemicals, acids, and wastewater from penetrating the structural fibers.
- Reducing fluid friction: Creates a smooth, polished inner pipe wall to facilitate liquid flow and prevent pressure loss.
- Eliminating bubbles and preventing leaks: The 30 g/m² tissue is rapidly saturated with resin to remove air bubbles and prevent microcracks.
- Final covering of composite components: Used as the outer layer of fiberglass components, such as tanks and fittings, to conceal the texture of coarse fibers and create a uniform appearance.
